The City of Ironwood is seeking qualified applicants for a new DPW Supervisor. This position is under the general supervision of the City Manager and City Commission. This position manages the DPW AFSCME Union staff and plans, supervises, and coordinates the work of staff engaged in the operation and maintenance of wastewater collection and storm drainage systems, water pumping, treatment and distribution systems, street maintenance, facility cleaning and repair, municipal cemetery, parks, fleet management and trails. Must have strong communication skills, organizational skills, and respond to questions from the public, City Commission and City Staff. This is a non-union position with a salary of $62,000 - $72,000/year (DOQ), with an excellent benefit package including defined benefit pension, health insurance (medical, dental and vision), life insurance, and paid time off (vacation, sick, and holidays).

Job Description - Equip Repair Worker II
The City of Ironwood Public Works Department is accepting applications for Equipment Repair Worker II until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023.
Applications can be obtained at the City Clerk’s Office or from the City website at https://ironwoodmi.gov/government/departments/. Completed applications shall be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office, 213 S. Marquette Street, Ironwood, MI 49938.
The employee will be expected to repair and replace parts in engines, transmissions, differentials and other equipment; assist in rebuilding motors, starters and generators; operate welding, drilling and related equipment utilized in the maintenance of public works equipment; reline and adjust brakes and repair hydraulic systems; perform road service on equipment as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school education or GED equivalent. One (1) year of progressively more responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of equipment, or graduation from a post-secondary motor vehicle repair program. Any equivalent combination of education and experience. Be a self-starter. Work with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues and the Public.

The City of Ironwood is currently accepting applications to fill a full-time Equipment Operator position with the Department of Public Works in the Sewer Facilities Department. This is a non-exempt, union position. Duties include operation of heavy equipment in the maintenance of the City’s sewer system, performance of public works construction, and snow removal and plowing. An Interstate Class B CDL is required within six (6) months of hire. Candidates must be knowledgeable in the operation of heavy equipment. The current starting base wage is $20.27/hour, with an automatic wage step increase to $20.81 after (1) year of service. This position also comes with a great benefit package including longevity increases, defined benefit pension, health insurance (medical, dental and vision), life insurance and paid time off (vacation, sick, personal and holidays).
