Water Main Flushing Notice

2026 Spring Water Main Flushing Map & Schedule

The City of Ironwood will begin flushing water mains beginning Sunday, May 10, 2026 to Friday, May 15, 2026. Discoloration and change in pressure are expected while the system is being flushed.

Customers are advised to run the cold water faucet closest to the water meter connection until the water is clear. To receive a proper credit on the monthly utility bill, please take a water meter reading prior to running the water and a final reading when your water is clear. Further guidance to flush your private water system and appliances can be found under Important Information About Flushing on this web page.

Free bottled water is available at the Ironwood Public Safety Department at 123 W. McLeod Ave. during the water main flushing period. You may contact the City of Ironwood at (906) 932-5050 if you have any questions.

Sunday (pm) 5/10 – Monday (am) 5/11
All areas north of US-2 from the Montreal River to Roosevelt Street

AREA 2

Monday (pm) 5/11 – Tuesday (am) 5/12
All areas south of US-2 to Frederick Street from Norrie Street to North Lake Street, and all areas north of East Ayer Street from Lake Street to Country Club Road

AREA 3

Tuesday (pm) 5/12 – Wednesday (am) 5/13
All areas south of the railroad grade to McLeod Avenue and Vaughn Street from the Montreal River to Lake Street, and the Jessieville area including the Newport Heights Location

WATER AND SEWER PROJECTS

Phase 5 Water and Sewer Project

The following is a graphical depiction of our Phase 5 project area. Phase 5A was completed in 2024 and 2025. This consisted of water system improvements only and as the key explains, is the blue dashed lines on.

Phase 5B and 5C was begun in 2025. The October 14, 2025 update is as follows:

Concrete curb, sidewalks and driveways to be completed on entire job by Saturday October 18th.

Paving of all other remaining streets and driveways to be completed by Saturday October 25th. This includes Lowell Street being paved and opened the week of October 20th.

Topsoil to be backfilled around sidewalks after driveways are completed. Seeding and grass growth to be established in spring 2026.

Punchlist work on this years work to be performed in summer 2026. Then second lift of paving mid to late summer 2026.

In the summer of 2026, utility and road work will be performed on all of Ridge Street and the westerly portion of Arch Street between Hemlock and Lowell Street. All Phase 5 work has a funding deadline for Final Completion of September 1, 2026.
