Assessing Department
The assessors office annually appraises the value of each parcel of residential, commercial and industrial property in the City. This value, or “assessment” is the basis for the determination of your tax dollars.
In order to maintain equitable assessments on all properties, The office works with the County Equalization Department on market research projects. An assessment roll is prepared every march for board of review approval. The “assessment roll” also provides to the City a cross-reference of property owners with property addresses and legal descriptions.
The Assessors Office is also directly involved in reviewing Industrial Development District and Industrial Facilities exemption applications, developing individual assessments for all special assessment districts for road improvements such as sewers, road paving, etc., and acting as liaison to the Assessment Board of Review.
The City of Ironwood has a State Equalized Value for 2020 of $108,086,572 and a Taxable Value of $95,007,713. It has 4047 parcels of property.
The Board of Review meets starting on the Tuesday following the first Monday in March of each year.
